IS THERE A CAP ON THE NUMBER OF RUNNERS?
Because of quotas imposed
by Parks Canada and The Town of Banff. Melissa's Road Race's total
cap is 4,500 participants.
THERE A WAITING LIST I CAN SIGN UP FOR?
There is no waiting list because we accept 10% more entries than
the quota, to address the no-show factor.
***Please be aware that wolf activity was at an all time high in 2016. At all times the safety of our participants and volunteers will take precedence above all else. FYI: The Grand Fondo race held in Banff in August 2016 had to be cut short because of wildlife activity. As well, the race was also stopped on two occasions, once for over a 60 minute period, due to wildlife sightings.
IF I SEE WILDLIFE ON THE COURSE?
Special Notice: There
is a possibility of wildlife encounters along the race courses -
if wildlife (bear, elk, cougar, wolf, coyote, deer) is sighted along
any of the race courses, the location of the sighting
will be communicated immediately to the RMO. If the race has commenced
and the lead vehicle at the head of the race slows, you MUST slow down and stop if required, behind the lead vehicle. DO
NOT pass the lead vehicle. In the case of a wildlife situation,
the race start may be delayed, or stopped by course marshals, Park
Wardens, or RCMP and/or an alternate route will be implemented.
