ARE WALKERS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN MELISSA'S ROAD RACE?
Stopped traffic on the Banff Avenue bridge and Banff Avenue must be kept to a minimum and start to move as quickly as possible for both emergency and courtesy reasons. FOR THIS REASON, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE FIRST 2K-3K OF EACH RACE MOVES ALONG AT A STEADY PACE and clears Cave Avenue, the Banff Avenue bridge and Banff Avenue in a quick and timely manner.

HOW CAN I MAKE DISTANCE CHANGES TO MY REGISTRATION?

There will be a $20 fee for runners who wish to change from 5K to 10K. 10K runners changing to the 5K event will not be refunded.

IS MELISSA'S ROAD RACE A FUNDRAISING EVENT?
Melissa's Road Race does not solicit sponsorship dollars.

It is the mandate of our event, to provide for our participants, the very best, hospitality driven, running event in Canada. To that end, Melissa's provides and pays for all the rental items, entertainment, food and beverages, as well as insurance, licenses, t-shirts and cash prizes.

Melissa's Road Race is not a fundraising event but has chosen over the years to donate any profits generated from our road race, back into the community.

For the tenth year in a row, Melissa's Road Race will be donating to the Daycare Society of Banff, the Banff Canmore Community Foundation, the Banff Kindergarten Program, the Banff Composite High School, the Banff Rugby Club, the 6th Grade Program at the Banff Elementary School, and the Banfff YWCA Safe House Campaign. This will bring our contributions back to the community to $106,500.00 to date. We are proud to be a supporting partner to our hometown and our vibrant community.

WHY IS THERE A CAP ON THE NUMBER OF RUNNERS?
Because of quotas imposed by Parks Canada and The Town of Banff. Melissa's Road Race's total cap is 4,500 participants.

IS THERE A WAITING LIST I CAN SIGN UP FOR?
There is no waiting list because we accept 10% more entries than the quota, to address the no-show factor.

WHAT IF I SEE WILDLIFE ON THE COURSE?
Special Notice: There is a possibility of wildlife encounters along the race courses - if wildlife (bear, elk, cougar, wolf, coyote, deer) is sighted along either the 5Km or the 10Km course, the location of the sighting will be communicated immediately to the RMO. If the race has commenced and the lead vehicle at the head of the race slows, you MUST slow down and stop if required, behind the lead vehicle. DO NOT pass the lead vehicle. In the case of a wildlife situation, the race start may be delayed, or stopped by course marshals, Park Wardens, or RCMP and/or an alternate route will be implemented.

HOW CAN I GET TO THE RACE WITHOUT TAKING MY CAR?
Town of Banff Bus Routes and Parking

Please be aware that the
Parks Canada Administration Building Grounds
and the Cascade Gardens, is not available for parking.

NOTE: Melissa's Restaurant and Road Race are hiring 2 extra buses to make special runs to Central Park. The buses will run from The Voyageur Inn along Banff Ave. Anyone can ride the "Runners' Courtesy Bus", just realize that it will only be going as far as Central Park, and then returning along Banff Ave. to pick up more runners.

The Melissa's Runners Express Bus is free. However, if you choose to make a donation, the money will go to the Banff Daycare Society. All runners are encouraged to leave their cars downtown; THERE IS NO PARKING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRIDGE!
